Speake-Marin was founded by Peter Speake-Marin in 2002.  Like many of the best Indepedent watchmakers, Peter got his start restoring some of history’s most interesting and important antique timepieces.  This background influenced Peter greatly in his watchmaking.  His point of view has always been to strive to create watches that would life a life well beyond that of the first owner – achieving this by avoiding pitfalls of various antique timepieces he had encountered in his restoration days.  Even his signature bold-lugged watch cases are inspired by the test watch cases he used in his early days.  Alas, Peter left his eponymous company in 2017, and the brand continues without his involvement.  We hope they continue the spirit of their founder.
