If there is any one company who could make 438 parts working in concert look simple, it is A. Lange and Sohne.
Known for their precision, their high Saxon level of fine finishing, black polishing, German silver main plates, screwed gold chatons surrounding the rubies at critical junctures, the Lange 1 moon phase is nothing less then a poem-in-metal.
The moon phase done in a realistic royal blue, the wonderfully styled white gold case, late large ez set date, and the exceptional 72 hour power reserve all speak to the degree of perfection A. Lange & Sohne demands from their watchmakers. The L121.3 engine also beats at 21600vph to keep absolutely precise time and the balance wheel is protected by Lange’s own shock protection system.
The subtle display of the day-night feature of the moon phase is as beautiful as the pictured night starred sky. The small seconds being slightly ajar is the often copied but never duplicated magic of the ALS design. Just the subtlest move of any element would ruin the exquisite asymmetry.
The date is easy to set being linked by just one button and framed such that it plays into the very zen balance of the watch rather then disturbing it. It is rare to see such a fine example of this watch at such an attainable price and this one is complete with box, papers and cards in the leather binder Lange provides then inside new.
Condition of this watch is Mint and the watch is complete.
