The French word for “pebble” is Galet. One touch of this wonderfully rounded case and it feels as though it had been polished smooth by a stream for hundreds of years! We imagine it was rather well-polished in Mr. Ferrier’s fecund mind for many many days.
A design experiment between sharp and smooth, the remarkable case contrasts abruptly and yet seamlessly with the sharp white-gold conical-shaped markers and “javelin” signature shaped hands. The domed watch shape of the case is reflected ever so subtly in the domed hands as well, representing a genius level attention to details.
While it is often said that Mr. Ferrier refined his chops in his forty years at Patek Philippe, we believe this watch was the next step or even genesis of a new level of design. Whether it be the anglage, the cabochon ends of the lugs and crown, the hand chamfered wheels, or the Cotès de Geneve ornamentation that rival, may we say, the great master Phillip Dufour in their microscopic level of perfection, there really isn’t a single part of this watch which has not been considered. Truly haute horology with a capital H!
Along with the beautiful case and simple markers, we also have to mention the beauty of the brushed satin dial. Again, a playful contrast with the specular elements of the watch, it projects a softness and texture that makes it also seem to match both fine clothing or jeans.
With the beauty emanating from this watch like a super model, don’t be so quick to dismiss it as a pretty face!
Powered by the calibre FBN 229.01 (assembled and finished in-house!) it features a pawl fitted gold micro-rotor and a silicon escapement that is somewhat special itself. The watch has two escape wheels to enable the balance to be struck twice per oscillation. This Ferrier advanced feature makes the watch both more efficient and accurate, and like all Laurent Ferrier watches it is also finished to superlative levels.
This watch is in lightly worn condition, showing some swirl marks and micro abrasions, but no dings, dents or deep scratches. Comes with box, papers, loupe, and some time remaining on the factory warranty.
