Philippe Dufour’s Simplicity isn’t the most complicated watch in the world, or the most technically sophisticated, but it is, simply put, probably the most perfect execution of a classic three-handed wristwatch that you can own. The Simplicity is the watch that results when a true master watchmaker decides to do something “simple,” but do it to perfection.
The finishing on the Simplicity is so far above pretty much anything else you can find. I’ve heard knowledgeable collectors say that they never truly “got it” about finishing, until they saw macro photos of a Simplicity, and then it all made sense. Every design decision is perfect, and the closer you look the better things get – the rounded anglage can withstand any level of magnification and still look perfect.
Sheer watchmaking perfection.
What more is there to say about Philippe Dufour that hasn’t already been said? Simply put, he is possibly the greatest living watchmaker.
